The Viola May feels like a hidden gem. Uncle zig’s backroom

Inspired by the spirit of Appalachia's bootlegging era, Uncle Zig's Backroom is an intimate hideaway where conversation flows as easily as the cocktails.
Rich leather couches, a weathered church pew, an old upright piano, and vintage touches create the feeling of stumbling into a forgotten gathering place from another time.
The room takes its name from the legendary Uncle Zig-a real Eastern Kentucky bootlegger whose life became local folklore.His story ended in mystery when he was fatally shot, and the only witness to the incident disappeared soon after. With no testimony and no clear answers, the case quietly faded, and no charges were ever brought.
Today, Zig's legacy lives on not as a celebration of crime, but as a nod to the colorful characters and untold stories that helped shape Appalachian history.
